I was a co-worker of the Stream of Recovery. On December 8, 1998, a brother of our church came to me to preach the work of Almighty God of the last days. He gave me a book of Almighty God’s word and asked me to read it. I was very angry and rebuked him, “We only believe in the Lord Jesus; why did you convert to the faith of another god?” Running my eyes over more than one page of the book, I laid it aside, because I thought the words were plain and simple, and too shallow. The brother said to me earnestly, “Better finish reading it, and you will know it is truly the word personally spoken by God.” “I don’t think so. Now that you insist it is God’s own word, you get a pen and a notebook, put them on the table, and ask God to speak!” I said rudely. And then I murmured to myself angrily, “You believers in Almighty God have stolen many of our lambs, and now you also want to draw me in. No way!” Then I went to the church, and called some other co-workers together and discussed how to guard against the “Eastern Lightning,” trying to work out ways to fight back against it. After that, we went to every meeting place spreading these slanderous and blasphemous words: “You mustn’t believe in the ‘Eastern Lightning.’ It is a false Christ, a false prophet, who tries to deceive people in the disguise of the Lord. What we believe in is the truth.

1. Wang XX, female, aged 59, from Chongqing City, formerly a believer from the Disciples Association. One afternoon in early August 2002, about 2 o’clock, my husband and I were sunning the corn at home. Suddenly we saw a red tablet about one meter square appear in the eastern sky. On it appeared three Chinese characters for “Almighty God,” and they were golden. We both felt very surprised but did not understand what that meant. At that time, this scene attracted many villagers, who gathered round and watched it. They all talked about it. One of them said, “This is the God the people from Shizhu County (which was under the jurisdiction of Chongqing City and was about 6 kilometers away) believe in. So, this God is true. We’d better watch our tongues in the future….” The vision lasted over four hours and then disappeared gradually. Half a month later, such a spectacle appeared again in the same direction and at the same hour. This time what appeared was the Chinese pinyin for “Almighty God.” They were the same in color and size as those characters, and they lasted over four hours too. Not long afterward, someone came to preach Almighty God’s end-time gospel to me, and I accepted it gladly.

    On 21 August (2014), the May 28 Zhaoyuan Murder was publicly tried in Yantai City, Shandong Province. About the public hearing, in “Court Statements of the Defendants in Zhaoyuan Murder: I Am God,” Tencent made a relatively detailed and true report on the defendants’ statements. In this way, the CCTV created public opinions for the CCP to comprehensively crack down on the Church of Almighty God and all the underground churches, and shifted people’s distrust of the CCP to the hatred of the Church. Its sinister intention makes me shudder with fear. The CCP held such a high-profile public trial on the case of several psychopaths’ killing one person; why didn’t it do so on the big case of several thousand students being slaughtered in the 6/4 Students’ Strike of 1989?
